In short: A great way to kick off the New Year
In full: Second time for me at this event - it really is a brilliant way to shake off the holiday excess and get a baseline time in the bank.
Very friendly, but quite a quick field so it does get stretched out towards the back of the pack. But there really is no shelter from the wind, so if the weather hits you - it hits you hard like this year.

In short: Lulls you in to a flase sense of security with a flat-ish first 5!

In short: Glorious setting but a beast of a run - no where near my PB, but then I am a wussy inner-city road runner.

In short: Fun and friendly race
In full: The tunnel is not as bad as people make out but the Promenade is always longer than I think!
There were some grumpy marshals this year, but they were far out numbered by cheery ones and there is an excellent crowd at the finish.
It might be worth adding some estimated time rallying points at the start, there were even more people this year who were clearly starting amongst the front runners who shouldn't have been and this caused problems for faster runners that got caught behind. I know this is a problem in all races, but at least approximate timings might help even it out a bit?

In short: Sheffield is hilly, but very welcoming, and the Don Valley Stadium is a great start/finish venue.
In full: This was my first ever Half Marathon a year ago, and I came back for more.

It is a very welcoming event and the organisation is smooth and professional. This year, the goody bag was excellent (a reusable kit bag thing). The only request I would make is for some form of chip mat at the halfway point for split times and water in bottles. I cannot drink from cups and run!

I hope to be back in 2011.

In short: Some of them hills are longer than you'd think!
In full: A nice local race that is generally well organised (though running out of safety pins was a bit dire, I'm just kicking myself as I usually bring emergency sets, just in case).
Beautiful weather today (if a bit warm) and an all round pleasant event.

In short: Easter fun in the sun - a lovely event
In full: There are one or two little inclines towards the end that can dent your time, but this is a great race. One criticism - I never like the gun-time final positioning in the results; it just doesn't seem fair in such a large race.
