In short: must remember suncream next time!!!
In full: I have to say that in the end I LOVED this race. It was only my second ever Marathon and being someone who doesn't usually run on my own I did find it a struggle and was ready to pull out before half way even arrived. However I met a lovely man called Peter who assured me I could do it and carry on - and so I took the left turn for the second loop instead of the right turn to go home and carry on I did. The cenery was incredible, the marashals were wonderful - every single one of them stood up as soon as they saw us to point us in the right direction even on the second loop and they were all full of words of encouragement. The sponges at the water stations were an excellent idea as were the own bottle stations i wish every race did that. I was one of the last runners to come in at 5:51 but still had everyone to cheer me in and the commentator loved my sprint finish - I have decided that if I had that left in me at the end I didn't work hard enough so am going to go back next year to do this one again and beat my time - I know it isn't fast for most people but I will work my way down the times eventually and would like to thank everyone I spoke to along the way for their support and encouragement.

In short: I hate the chaser car
In full: I ran this race last year and enjoyed it much more then. I ran 3 minutes slower this year but was right at the back of the field (just coming back from an Injury) I wasn't ridiculously slow coming in at 2:30 but the chaser car followed me the whole way. I understand entirely that that Is its job but at times it was so close and when all you can hear is the drone of the engine following you it really is very demoralizing. It stopped every now and then to collect the mile markers and I felt so Much better about myself when it was gone but it was soon back. It Is a flat course so the car could have hung back a bit without any problems with being able to see me. I would also say that the Marshall's must have been bored when I got there as several of them didn't even acknowledge me which when you have been putting your all in to it is really quite upsetting.

In short: Not sure what the money is spent on but it is pretty...
In full: Arrived early which was good as it meant I got a parking space but was disappointed to learn there was only 3 toilets for everyone (one of which had no toilet paper) until the cafe area opened closer to 09:20 (even though there was workers in there) all races started together which wasn't a problem but no one seemed to know what they were doing as the megaphone wasn't working so we couldn't hear the man at the start over the barking of all of the dogs (there were people with dogs running as well which was nice) Once we got going the route was lovely however could have done with a few more marshals in places and perhaps friendlier ones as most I saw didn't even acknowledge you - I had to pull out at 7.5 miles as I was not well and they didn't even ask if I was ok) however there was a lovely lad at the long straight and the lad at the road crossing section were both lovely and full of encouragement so they should be thanked.
Race was expensive for what it was I think as there was only a medal at the finish and cups of water rather than bottles. Also the winners only got a pumpkin so not sure where the money all went? Saying this however I have entered for the Santa run (exactly the same route) as I like the location and want to finish it this time. Still smarted a little at the cost though.

In short: Really enjoyed but good bag lacked this year
In full: This is the 2nd time I have done this race. I really enjoyed it the hill and incline after that is a killer but great support through the town and well manned water stations and cheerful marshalls. Only things I would say is that the info we were sent out didn't have the start time or postcode for the race on which would have been useful ;) also at the end although there was a lovely t shirt and a bottle of water there was no banana or chocolate like last year. I wouldn't expect anything massive but a small mars or bit of chocolate is well needed after a run for me ( luckily I had my own) other than that a really really enjoyable run and I will be back next year. Special thanks to the marshalls at the top of the hill telling me I had a nice long downhill stretch and cheering really loudly and to the Marshall who was stood on the corner before the left turn towards the start who was full of beans and excellent commentary as we were running :) thanks

In short: Brilliant i loved it
In full: I would firstly like to say my thoughts are with the families of the two runners who sadly passed away - on a lighter note the race was very well organised the marshals were great goody bag was a bit disappointing and i was told my running friends who finished earlier there was chocolate at the end? i didnt get any so it must have all been taken which is a shame will be back next year and am going to run quicker so i get my chocolate :)
