In short: 5k trail run In full: My 11 year old son and I did the 5k fun run. The organisation was friendly but a bit confusing - the front runners weren't really sure where they were supposed to go, even at the start! But it was fine once we got going. It is a fairly hilly course, over rough grassland. Pretty much all trail; a short section of country lane at the start and end (a lollipop route). We'll definitely do it again. A Great beginners race - there weren't really any serious runners... I came in 2nd female and I'm not speedy! (1st female was about 10!). Date of review: July 2, 2012

In short: Top race! In full: Beautiful scenery, no, stunning actually. The scenery is so good it makes up for the hills. I've done this race twice now, and I'll be back again next year. Good mix of club runners and fun runners. Has that friendly "charity race" feel to it. Great kids race too.
One point I must mention though - I couldn't believe just how quickly the organisers got the race times up on the board after the race. They were printed out and pinned up outside the marquee by the time I was half way through my post race beaker of water!! - even before the race had finished! Outstanding. In short: Beautiful Scenery, friendly and well organised In full: I loved this race, I run in Sherbourne woods fairly often so I knew about all the hills - and there are plenty of them! This year was exceptionally muddy - far worse than I've ever seen (even in winter), but it actually made the race a lot more fun. One chap running next to me went down twice! The first half of the race is much tougher and hillier than the second, so it's a great feeling when you know the hills are done with and you can really let go. It's mainly trail, but with 2 (country lane) road sections. Date of review: July 2, 2012
