In short: A PB in the sun! In full: Who would have believed hilly Richmond Park to be a faster course than London, but the facts speak for themselves. Lovely race, lovely place and great weather. 100%! Date of review: May 7, 2013

In short: The sun shone on the righteous! In full: Excellent day. My first race since a summer lay off to injury and a most enjoyable wayto get back in the swing (literally with the great band at 16 miles). Very friendly and amazing support throughout. Was nice to take things a little easier for once and enjoythe day. I wish I'd taken my camera as some of the views were amazing. Thanks to teh organisers and see you next year! In short: I keep coming back! In full: I love this race and have run it 3x previously. I was coming back from injury and struggling a bit in the first 6 miles but by Hampton Court suddenly clicked into form and finished on a strong negative split. Having started near the back, this gave me the enjoyable experience of passing runners for the last 7 miles with no-body overtaking me. Big thanks to two stutuesque brunettes who made my first 6 miles much more enjoyable, flanking me throughout... Date of review: May 16, 2011

In short: If Carling organised marathons... In full: Excellent race devised by runners for runners. A tough course but suprisingly quick. Always interesting scenery. Great marshalls, excellent momentos. Was there any St John's Ambulence left for teh rest of the south of England?! Great job, well done and I'll be back. Date of review: May 16, 2011

In short: Excellent race! In full: I really enjoyed this. It was a great race on a challenging course, run at midninght with head torches. What's not to like?!
The general standard of runners seemed quite high and although it's not a course for your pb, it's certainly worth adding to your list.
Fun through the town, tough up he hills and fast down them. Very nice marshalls and organisers and great people doing free massage. Thanks to all! Date of review: October 31, 2010

In short: A great event In full: At least once on the Seven Sisters I may have wondered what I was doing there and if I actually enjoy marathon running after all, but in the whole, a great event. Great course, marshals, support, food and piper. What more could you ask for? (The clouds cleared and the sun came out which gave us the views also even if there was a vicious wind throughout). Many thanks once again to the organisers. Date of review: October 24, 2010

In short: Great race In full: I've opted for scenery - glorious although it's a guess as whenever we were high enough to take in a view we were surrounded by clouds and often in lashing rain!
Very well organised with exceptional marshals out braving the elements with great cheer - it was probably preferable to be running.
We got lost with a group around 6 miles and ended up doing another 3 or 4 before we got back on track. Unlike all those that then took a short cut - omitting the tough out and back river segment, this took the over all run up to around 30 miles. For the most part, very well marked and if we did get lost we should have followed the route book rather than the people in front...
The fire station was very good venue.
Met some nice people going round.
Well done! Date of review: August 23, 2010

In short: Excellent race. Brilliant organisation. Lovely helpers. In full: I've amused myself by reading the other comments and am well on the road to recovery. I too did the 50 with my mate Phil.
We had the long drive up north on Friday and arrived too late for food (they shut early in those parts) so pre race supper was limited to two bags of crisps, a pack of salted nuts and two pints of the local bitter.
We camped in the field and were up early to faff around until the 9.30 briefing before being roasted alive on the coack journey to Dalamain where our race began. Arriving with a little time to spare, we spoke to some of the people coming through for the 100 and marvelled at their blisters and resilience.
The start lead directly uphill to a style and a 6 minute wait and then it was on for an undulating 4 mile loop, trying to hold Phil back from 10k pace as we would have a bit still to go from there!
Never got the hang of Garmin so navigated by route book and map (or really just followed anyone that seemed like they knew where they were going). Never got too much off path. Mostly great fellow runners. Excellent checkpoints with unfailingly friendly and helpful marshalls, soup, tea, cake and rice pudding.
At halfway, could have happily stopped and been delighted with a PW over my hardest ever marathon, but left with same again... Now by headtorch!
Bad weather meant glasses steamed up and for a bit only option to run literally blind!
Constant ups and downs and slippery rock compounded by shoe breaking (last time I wear Solomons).
Great fun. Finished 5.45 in the light with a speed walking flourish.
Further night at campsite was great idea before the drive back on the Monday and Sunday night we made sure we knew exactly what time dinner closed! Date of review: July 29, 2010

In short: Should be called the South Ups marathon!! In full: My second running after the inaugural one in 2005 and it certainly has grown. Starting at 10 meant that we were constantly passing people from earlier waves which was nice. Excellent signage, dodgy drink stations - long bits with nothing and then one complete with gels in last mile. Good new start venue and lovely weather for the post race BBQ. Well done to the organisers! Date of review: June 14, 2010
