In short: great for a fun runner
In full: As someone else has already pointed out, the start pens were a joke. I started someway into the sub 40 pen thinking that only semi decent runners would start that far down. However, i spent the first mile navigating my way around people who would have been lucky to have finished in 45 minutes. It spoilt the event for me as i lost too much time in this period to get near the time i wanted.

In terms of other aspects, a good flat route and fantastic support whole way around. Decent quality medal and technical t shirt, though lack of anykind of food in goody bag was a minus.

In full: This was my 4th half of the year, but my first ever city race. I came here purely for a pb. Running on that basis i quite enjoyed the Portway section as it was an opportunity to get my head down and run and really get ahead of my plannd time. I found the last few miles difficult to maintain my flow what with the cobbles and the constant twist and turns.

I thought the event was very well organised and the atmosphere once back in the city was great. This is about as flat a race as you can get, the hills were nominal compared to th countryside races i have previously done, allowing me to knock 1 min 18 off a 5 mth old pb.

If i were to make one comment it would be that within each starting pen there are also time inicators for people to position themselves by. I was in the front of wave 1 but still found myself nestled in with runners looking for times a good 10 minutes behind me and spent much of the first mile running sideways.
