In short: Good route, well orgainsed, save something for the steep hill at the end In full: My first time on this race, a 7.5 mile (my garmin said 7.4) run on country roads and through lovely scenery around Dunblane, starting and finishing at the Dunblane Hydro Hotel. Some significant climbs until about 3 miles, then level or downhill until the last mile, which climbs back to the hotel and is very steep on the hotel driveway in the last 400m. This was expensive to enter (£19 :-O) if you enter late on and are not SAF regsitered. Difficult to seee where the money went except a generous prize list and chip timing. I think orgainsers should be trying to keep costs down and I question the value of chip timing on courses that are not PB material. Date of review: June 2, 2010

In short: Fiinish area and transport a mojor problem In full: This was my second Edinburgh, so I knew what to expect. When the organisers get somethning right, they get something else wrong. Last year it was the water fiasco. This year, plenty water but major problems in the baggage reclaim and transport. The traffic is scrwed anyway and 95% of runners want to get back to Edinburgh centre to their hotel or for onwards departures, Until the organisers get a smooth transport system to handle that there will be issues. I agree with what others have said. Also the race started too late (to accommodate the earlier half) but that meant even the fsater runners ( 3 hours) were still on the route as the hottest part of the day. A 9am start at the latest, please. I may do this again as a local who wants this to be Scotland's Permier Marathon to rival London but it will be some years before that is assured. In short: Tough climbs and great views. A real change from the norm In full: If you want something that is not just the running the streets of another town that look a lot like the last urban half marathon you did, this is for you. The location is within a hour's drive of Glasgow and Edinburgh so is well in reach of the Central Belt's runners. The weather was glorious and a gentle breeze cooled us as we toiled up the tough hills to appreciate the fantastic views that combine to make this Hellish and Heavenly. The horns and halos of the Perth RR marshalls were a nice touch to the excellent organisation of this event Date of review: April 12, 2010

In short: A well organised and good value race In full: My only criticism is the traffic on the Hilfoots Road, sometimes I felt the cars were just a little too close for comfort Date of review: March 22, 2010

In short: If the weather is good, this would be a flyer :) In full: The first five miles were downhill, then we turned into a strong east wind. That#s the problem with this course, because it hugs the coast, there is the strong possibility of a strong wind affceting runners, especially where the route is completely exposed. Good marshalling, water and lucozade stations. A poor off road section before the turn for home. A great grandstand finish at Musselburgh racecourse Date of review: May 28, 2008

In short: A really, really tough 14 miles but worth every step In full: The race says it's 14 but I put it at 15.5. A great combination of road running, rat racing, lungbursting hill climbs and a final, crazy scramble up Arthur's Seat. Great organisation and shows a beautiful city at its best Date of review: June 17, 2007
