In short: A challenging but great race. In full: The hills on the course make it a challenging race but the atmosphere of the marshals and the support from the villagers that the course goes through more than makes up for these.
This year had a couple of good additions, the pacers I think helped the start be more organised plus help control people's pacing at the start of the race so they would have more energy for the last few miles.
You get a good high visibility t-shirt which I will be seeing lot of these out either running or at the gym for months to come. Also the finishers medal got you entry in to the nearby OctoberFest.
The only downside at 11:27/mile pace only the first and last aid station had gels available when I got there. However each had plenty of water which was good on a sunny day.
Overall it is a great race on closed roads that goes out in to the countryside plus is improving with each year. Date of review: October 8, 2014
In short: Hot and Hilly Race In full: I really enjoyed this and beat my pb on this course by 90 seconds. There was no medal or t shirt (I have enought already) but this made it a lower entry price. Date of review: September 12, 2011
In short: Yet another great bungay black dog race In full: Despite the heat and the unexpected number of hills (until about 6 miles) I really enjoyed the race. Possibly more as I was not aiming for a particular time but pace my brother round. It was well organised, marshalled and had plenty of well maintained water stops especially in the heat. In short: A nice single loop in the countryside. In full: A nice scenic race in the countryside with only 2 major hills. Only problem was on some of the narrow country lanes the traffic was a problem. Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: A 3 lap course with a few inclines but did get free entry in to show. In full: I though the 2 water stations on each lap was a bit much for a 10km in February in 3c. The only support was the start/finish area for each lap in front of the grandstand. Date of review: February 15, 2010
In short: Good run along the seafront, glad I was wearing Santa suit to keep warm. In full: The only issues was I did not see a route map or description there. There was a run through one of the stands at the end and in to it at the finish that I was not expecting and would be a potential bottleneck. Date of review: December 15, 2009
