In short: They're clearly very proud of this race, and with good reason! In full: Excellent value for money, a growing number of racers each year (and a fast field at that), a very enjoyable route consisting of twists, turns and hills - as good a course as you get on road, really.
Very little traffic on the roads, brilliantly organised, couldn't ask for better water stations. Great parking and the Blacksmith's Arms pub, too. The technical tee at the end is a nice one.
One thing they could do to improve it is to think about the starting procedure. Because of where the start is (and it's a perfectly measured 10 mile course), they made everyone wait on the other side of the road, not at the line. The starter then got everyone to the line and literally 15 seconds after we'd moved, the gun went off, without any previous audible warning. In a race without chip timing, this isn't great, since apart from the first two rows who always get themselves to the front, all abilities were now crammed together. Please find a way to give us at least a full minute at the start line to get into a position we're comfortable with. I realise this was related to the safety issue of the traffic.
Great weather on the day, too, and the Wolds Vets are a very friendly club. I'm only not putting this as an all-time favourite because I reserve that for very out-of-the-ordinary races. This one does the ordinary extraordinarily well. Date of review: September 3, 2012

In short: One to run again. In full: First time running this one. The hand-thrown mugs are great, and it's lovely to see the organisers including runners' times for the last x number of years, too. The off-road section was really fun, and the atmosphere was very good, despite the attached show being cancelled due to wet ground. The marshalling was excellent, and just the right number of water stops. One gripe: it didn't start on time, meaning my warm-ups had been pretty much in vain. Date of review: July 24, 2012
