In short: All credit to the South Cheshire Harriers. A wonderful race, loads of happy marshals, lots of aid stations, accurate mile markers, fantastic value for money. Date of review: September 15, 2013
In short: Perfect for any woman looking to do their first 10K In full: This race is perfect for beginners. Very friendly, well-marshalled, very flat. Unfortunately, this year there was a mix up with the route and we were made to run 6.6 miles, which was very disappointing for those of us who did this race specifically to attain a PB. To be fair to the organisers, they investigated the matter straight away and apologised and said it wouldn't happen again. Not sure if I'd ever go back to see if they keep their word though. In short: Fast course, well-organised but not much to look at! In full: A definite potential PB race (I managed to demolish 17 minutes off my PB here!). Dull scenery, not much support and potentially horrific if you get the wrong weather. But the organisation is excellent, the course is almost pancake flat (aside from a couple of very small slopes, there were lots of water stations dotted around the course and the RW pacers were of definite benefit to me.
You have to be quite tough mentally to constantly push the pace on the flat, but if the weather is kind this is a very fast course indeed.
The medal was awful, but that's not why I race. The mars bar and the magic gloves in the goody bag, however, were much appreciated at the end! Date of review: March 5, 2013
In short: Gruelling beach race in baking heat. Well-organised, nice shiny medal at the end. Very welcoming but not much support en-route. Very disappointed with the number of runners who did not stay to support those yet to finish. But a race to remember. Date of review: May 27, 2012
