In short: Brilliant race. Transformed. In full: Great race. The local running club has taken over the organisation of this race - and it's a big improvement. I've run it twice in the last decade and always enjoyed it as part of town summer festival - but this new route doesn't take in the town centre like the old days. That was always great, running through big crowds, but the new route is more scenic... and probably a slightly easier - taking a slightly less steep route to the top of the Kymin, then essentially spending the last 6 miles descending through the woods, then flat along the River Wye. I suppose it's more of a runners' race now. The running club has really got hold of the marshalling. Very friendly and efficient. With one road crossing involving STOP-GO boards controlling drivers where the woodland track crossed an A-road... that was quite impressive! Quality cakes and T-shirt at the finish (although I'd rather save money and forget T-shirts.) Date of review: May 1, 2013
