In short: nice end of week tester
In full: 4 laps of beverley town centre on generally good surface apart from short cobbled section. Good atmosphere and the laps and location mean good support. Race also has an announcer on loudspeaker which adds to atmosphere.

A few pubs on route and my dad was supporting outside one so I was able to call in my beer order halfway around last lap :¬)

In short: Moors the Muddier!
In full: Recent rain mad some bits a bit sloppy and it was a hard 21m due to some hard moorland sections. Great organisation, amongst best CP food variety I've seen and good cold buffet choice at end too, inc desert.

In short: Great off-road ultra
In full: Partially beacuse of festival in village this event before, during and after has a great atmosphere.

Warm this year and I paid the price for working too hard early on. Organisers seemed to respond well to heat withand extra water station on final long drag between final manned CP and finish. Good quality and choice of snacks on route too.

Really good, varied route with some big climbs and descents. Only the last stretch from final manned CP seems to drag and go on forever.

If your doing it make a day of it and stick around for a few beers in the three pubs within 30yrds of village centre. And you must.... MUST have some fish and chips to replenish the energy stores afterwards.

In short: Another great event from Threshfield
In full: (the other one is Trollers Trot in March). This is equally fun, slightly more competitive field due to being an FRA event but still very friendly and well organised. Dibbers are a good addition, especially for the pace or position concious (not me today). Same stunning views and a good introduction to long offroaders as navigation quite straightforward and hills never too tough or constant.

Not quite full marathon distance (24ish) but packs a lot in with a gentle run out along Wharf valley. Then you cross over and a bit of steep climbing on a tricky (due to wet tree roots, rocks) ascent followed by another great descent to the midway CP with tea and biscuits. Climb on monks road will have your head in a map but soon gets you to a cracking descent at Malham Tarn. Then one more long blast on a well marked road/trail and a bit of flag marked cross moor and your great day out is complete :)

A bit more exspensive than the LDWA event and not the variety of snacks on route. But with a few energy drink stops and a really good t-shirt at the end this is still great value.

Thanks to all the friendly marshalls, and HQ staff.

In short: Good race, course, organisation, goodies
In full: Despite west footpath on bridge (repair works) being closed which is usually used for return run the reroute was faultlessly organised and there wasn't enough runners in field to make two way traffic on one bridge path an issue. Well marshalled, good weather for spectators (hot for runners) and a nice tech-top + big tub of glucosamine+ tablets made up a great value goodie bag.

In short: A must for FLMers
In full: I agree with others that lack of water at the end is bad and also that course isn't interesting for the most part. However interesting = scenery (usually) = hills. If you want a flat, 20m prep race/LSR with company/competition for a spring marathon this has to be hard to beat.

Big thanks to the organisers, such a long event takes a lot of organising, marshalls and monitoring. I hear there has been a few issues with policing too, which is a pity from local authorities as they didn'y have to traffic monitor/close many roads or for very long - this route makes excllent use of quiet single track roads and paths for the most part.

There are some good touches too, support from cyclists was nice (cheers Kev, Dave and others) and a great idea to call out times at 5 mile splits, especially as my garmin let me down!
Big thanks to EHH and others who helped out.

In short: All round superb
In full: Great route varying from woodland to moors, river valleys with the odd road for good measure. Well marshalled and ran, great food at CP and at end. I do enjoy LDWA events that welcome runners and the generally good underfoot conditions help to make this one of the best

In short: Ran 10k, fast route with no major organisational issues. A few could do better points
In full: Despite out and back, dull, promenade route of 10k I liked it. Reassuringly flat and great to know that after 6k I wouldn't be running with wind. Due to this I ran a good time. Few organisational issues, mashalling good overall and chaotic nature of route through busy seaside town doesn't help. All friendly and with the odd exception helpful and devoted a long day to helping out - many Thanks to all. Would be nice if they could get presentations in at times when other races leaders weren't finishing. Minor gripe, was told before start that showers would be "members only" which wasn't true. At end of 10k there was no setup to take chips, give out medals/t-shirts. We were told to do after 11:30, wasn't even 10:30 at time. I hung around all day to watch races but others might have wanted to be off. Good idea to get an Olympian in to present medals. I can appreciate though that with three races to organise its hard to get it all dead smooth, bigger, more expensive events have done much worse - I'll be back.

In short: Nice course, not dead flat, usually steadily up or down
In full: Nice little village Tholthorpe, whole village seems to be out for this one. Warm day and not fully fit so not one of my best races. Not the flattest so a PB would be hard-earned for an experianced racer. Climbs after start and at about 5m challenge, but there are some longish steady downhills.
