In short: The event was cerainly blessed with good weather this year, having expected the usual frosty, late november weather. In full: Since taking part in this event 3 years ago the organisation of it has in my opinion gone downhill. I was unfortunate to have taken a fall, spraining an ankle, at approx 4 miles. Firstly thanks to those runners who offered to stop and help. However, I managed to hobble to the next marshalling point only to find a very young cadet marshall who was singularly incapable of offering assistance. From this point on there was no sign of any emergency backup or first aid personnel along the route. Even on eventually returning to Bicton (bearly mobile) I failed to find the race director or any St John ambulance brigade member or equivalent. It's ironic that the first time I've needed some medical attention there was non to be found. This is a woeful deficiency which needs addressing for next year. Other points of dissatisfaction are the lack of mile markers and there only being 2 water stations. I suggest placing another at about half way. Yes do I know how difficult it is to organise races and that folks do it voluntarily but surely safety and the welfare of the runners is a minimum requirement for such events. In short: Well organised race and the marshalls and helpers deserve special mention. In full: So glad I heeded the advice to wear jacket/leggings/gloves/hat over the exposed bodmin moor sections, making the going more bearable against the prevailing wintry conditions. The large entry meant you were never short of company to keep the spirits up. Will definitely look forward to competing in future years. Date of review: November 21, 2007

In short: A very special race, surpassing all expectations. Deserves to be up there as one of the better road races in the South West In full: This was a great achievement for the organisers and 'behind the scenes' volunteers who must be congratulated on all their attention to detail and hard work. The venue, marshalling, water stations, signage, etc. were first class. The route itself, a combination of long, flat and hilly sections, together with great views of dartmoor, represented the heart and soul of the Devon countryside. The marshalls and police were fantastic with their instructions and support, some marshalls in the most 'out of the way' places. The goodies handed out to the runners during the run was appreciated. The blue skies and mild weather blessed the occasion and, as a marathon newcomer and local runner, it couldn't have been better. Many thanks and see you next year. Date of review: October 22, 2007

In short: My first run of this race which happened to be in sauna conditions. I was told the Hatherleigh start was the easier option but I doubt it. Nevertheless organisation was excellent throughout and well looked after at the end. Date of review: June 26, 2007

In short: This race didn't grab my interest & was pretty average. I thought some of the marshalling was very poor, medal was dull & pointless, & my official race time was simply wrong. Date of review: February 15, 2007
