In short: glorious magnificent Dartmoor
In full: My favourite race of all time, and well done to Teignbridge Trotters for taking up the baton on this and doing it so well.

Fantastic. Can we do it again next month please?

In short: running along the Mersey
In full: Enjoyed a longer stay than I have had before in Liverpool. This is a great excuse to visit a very interesting city ... wish I could've spent longer there, maybe I'll have to do another.

I found the hard running surface (stone, concrete, and paving slabs) hard on the pins, and the four times out and back makes this challenging, but Kaja puts on a great show!

In short: Ultra fun in essex
In full: I ran the ultra and it lived up to the success that has built up around the marathon. I almost missed the start due to long queues for the one stall in the gents changing area ... portaloos might be in order now. But once going it was fantastic .... and the sun always seems to come out for the Halstead Marathon and now the Ultra too! I am sure there were more hills this year than I remember from previous events?!!!!!

In short: well-organised new race
In full: Well done to the organisers ... I thought that this went very smoothly and I really enjoyed the off-road tracks around this bit of rural Cambridgeshire.

In short: organisers had the best interests of the runners in mind
In full: it was a tough call, but they should be respected for making it. Sorry for all the people whose hopes were dashed by the ice and overturned car.

In short: tough but rewarding
In full: Fantastic day again on the round trip from Princetown. Wonderful scenery, great marshalling and support, faultless organisation, plus free massage at the end. Who could ask for me

In short: East Lothian coastal marathon
In full: an o.k.-ish course, but some failings that could be rectified. More expensive that London without the free public transport, the water stations every mile, and the portaloos en route. Where toilet facilities were available they were at the relay changeovers, so of no use to the runners on the course (who wants to join a 25m long queue when you're running a race?). Spectators/supporters should be kept out of areas like the baggage drop off zone and loo queues at the start ... the road up to the start was blocked with crowds, many of whom were friends and family, not runners. The baggage collection could be better prepared ... since race numbers are allocated on expected finish time it is kinda predictable that everyone in the reclaim area is trying to get their bags from exactly the same place. This is simple to avoid by removing the correlation between race number and predicted time. The showers at the school were excellent ... many thanks to the helpful pupils. The queue for the bus home looked awful, we took a local bus that was full and therefore couldn't pick anyone else up on the long route between musselburgh and princes street ... I imagine many of the locals who had been waiting hours at the bus stops (being refused entry to successive buses) were a little p--ed off by that, and would have their own opinions on the marathon.

In short: Smooth running on a hot day
In full: A very well run event, that made things as easy as possible on a very warm day. The heat meant it was never going to be a fast time this year, but beautiful countryside to run through

In short: tour of scenic King's Lynn
In full: I was pleased as my watch told me I have a new PB. The "chip" timing seemed quite inaccurate in comparison, and significantly slower. But still a PB, so that's ok. Timing problems need sorting.
