In short: Mud, Mud glorious Mud!!
In full: I have not been this muddy in a long time!!. Really enjoyed the relaxing race along the canal. The first few kilometres were rather crowded due to the mass of runners on the tow path and mud. this really messed up my average, but I would still do this run again as it was thoroughly enjoyable and scenic. Look forward to next year and hope it rains a lot less the days leading up to it!!.

In short: A very friendly race
In full: This was one of friendliest races I have competed in all year. I have never seen so many marshalls, all encouraging me along. I do not understand why other competitors are saying it is not suitable for beginners. I am sure many people who competed yesterday for the first time were very pleased just to finish and felt a great sense of achievement. The time it takes to get round is not necessarily a top priority, its the taking part and enjoyment of it all. Well done, look forward to next year!!

In short: Challenging course but well worth the scenery
In full: This is a local race for me and having got married at Mount Ephraim 11 years ago I am always keen to attend this event. I did a PW this year but was pleased with myself that I actually turned up due to the extreme heat we had last weekend. I am hoping next year tha that the race will start much earlier, maybe 9am because if it is a similar temperature next year I do not think I will take part. Love the atmosphere and organisation and I still have one of the memento bags from a few years ago that I use frequently when I go to events. Much more useful than a tacky medal or poor quality t.shirt. Well done Canterbury Harriers and Mount Ephraim.

In short: Not as good as last 2 years I have attended.
In full: I cannot agree more with the comment above about the completely selfish pacers. I took a friend for the first time this year and he said he fancied following a pacer, I advised him not to having seen their inconsistency last year.

Sure enough this year was no different. I ran around a 53.30 race and the 55 minute pacer finished in front of me, he was also on this own!!. A complete joke.

I have done the previous 2 years events and this years was no way as good in terms of warm up, (supposed to start at 8.10, started at 8.28 when we were squashed together like sardines meaning we could not move!).

The start is usually split boy/girl which means you have a lot clearer start, today I could not get my pace for 2k meaning a poor result.

Drinks stations were good, but what rather dissapointing at the end to be handed your medal still wrapped up in the cylophane it came in!!, do not bother if they are not going to put them round your neck!.

Not sure I will bother next year, will hopefully find a local event that is a bit more friendly and less commercial.
