In short: Excellent race - genuine PB potential
In full: Run by Purple Patch, before the race they proposed two innovative offers 1) the "number for life" where runners can retain their number for all future Maidenhead HMs & 2) the "silent bid" for the number of your choice with money going to charity. Both excellent ideas!

The race was well run on a fantastic flat course. I think this will become very popular with PB hunters in years to come.

The only two areas of constructive criticism would be 1) send numbers out to runners in advance & 2) (a genuine issue) sort the bad drop. Picking up bags at the end was atrocious & farcical. Was waiting over 40 minutes at the back of a van with a throng of people waving a number in the air in the hope that it would be noticed and found.

Despite this it was a fantastic race (& good local parking nearby too)!

In short: Challenging race made more difficult by total lack of thought
In full: Why did the race start at 10am? By the time runners were reaching the challenge of Gravel Pit Lane the temperature was soaring. Why did the fun run not start after the half marathon? This race should be starting at 9am if it continues to be run in late June.

With one death, and about 40 needing medical attention it simply isn't acceptable to be run so late.

In short: An excellent, well-run marathon with fantastic local support
In full: Possible improvement would be more exit points from the finish back onto the main road - otherwise excellent througout. Can only go from strength to strength (though could do with less sun next year)

In short: Fantastic atmosphere makes it a must run race
In full: I swapped into the race and had problems with number being sent to wrong place & chip time under wrong name. HOWEVER, it was a fantastic race I'd highly recommend to all. Without a doubt my favourite half marathon.

In short: Well organised but a few minor issues
In full: A well-run operation, as you would expect from one of the Great Run Series, and has definite PB potential. However, I did expect at least some level of security for the baggage - it was completely lacking! The number of toilets could also be greater. However that's probably like the need for extra lanes on the M25 - you can add more but there will never be enough!
