In short: Challenging country road course with incredible local support! In full: Lovely course darting out the south of the town to the country lanes and the big hills. The course is far from flat but plenty of people smashed their PB! Support all round this course by the locals is incredible and really gives you a boost especially through Cliddesden and Ellisfield. Will be back next year for sure! Date of review: October 8, 2012

In short: Brutal but also fantastic! In full: I chose this for my first marathon as I wanted to make sure it was a challenge and it certainly lived up to that, I may have somewhat underestimated how tough this was going to be. The course has you pretty much climbing or decending at all points and paths that are slanted get all the muscles aching. The killer hill to finish each lap is brutal but adds to the challenge. Set in an amazing location and the sunny day certainly contributed, had it been raining I may have been pushed over the edge. Plenty of people ran this in road shoes which was fine given the weather but I would have thought that in the wet it would be tough. Marshalls were amazing and kept up such amazing encouragement even hours on. The refuelling point at the top of the hill was superb, I only survived due to the handful of cliff bar chunks and nectar drinks. All in all it was an amazing day and a really tough but incredible challenge. I will certainly return to it. Date of review: September 23, 2012

In short: A challenging hilly course and the huge local support created a fantastic atmosphere! In full: This was a fantastic event. Middle of the surprise October heatwave with temperatures about 27ยบ made this already challenging and hilly course much tougher. The local support was amazing and I can't express enough how impressed I was with it, with music, sprinklers, extra water, jelly beans and even orange wedges to help us round, all of which was very welcoming in the heat. The course itself is fantastic, running through some lovely villages and the countryside. Would definitely do it again. Date of review: October 3, 2011

In short: Great views from the castle once you have tackled the climb. In full: This was my first race and the first time I had covered 10km in one go. I thought the organisation was very good and there were plenty of marshalls and signs. The 1km climb up to Old Sarum (just under 4km in to the race) is the main challenge with the nice views rewarding the effort. At the finish line was a medal, water, gummy bears and a marsbar. All in all I had a great time and thought it was a very good event.
