In short: A decent no-fuss big city event. In full: Not quite as pancake-flat as it purports to be, but certainly flat enough for a decent chance of a PB if the wind doesn't get up (same problem with all fairly exposed out-and-back courses). Not a great deal to look at, pricey for a 10k, and it's a big city mass-participation event so expect not-quite-enough-toilets and understaffed baggage areas. However, the atmosphere was genuinely pleasant, there were still people cheering at the finish line when the stragglers were coming in, the pre- and post-race organisation was acceptable (although we could have used a few start-line time-zone enforcers, perhaps with cattle-prods), but let's face it, a large number of runners in these races are first or only timers (bless 'em) and they can get a bit excitable. I wouldn't travel miles for it but I'm fairly local, had a pleasant morning, and would happily run it again. Date of review: December 15, 2010
