In short: Absolutely brilliant, in every way! In full: This was my 3rd South Downs half-marathon this year, and I keep going back for more, such is the scenery, the welcome, the organisation and friendliness all round. I ran the full marathon back in 2011, which I thoroughly enjoyed but, unfortunately, I don't have sufficient time to train for marathons. I was mighty happy when the half-marathon was introduced in 2012. I can highly recommend both, especially if you like to run on trails and enjoy some stunning scenery. Well done everyone at 2:09 - you're simply great!
In short: A super, well-organised, very friendly and welcoming race! In full: My 3rd time back this year, and I keep on returning to this little gem of a half in Lincolnshire. Perfect for either training purpose or as a race; challenging enough, with flat and hilly bits, something for everyone, I think. Now in its 10th year this year, we were all treated to a good quality technical t-shirt again, and even an anniversary medal! And for some of us very lucky ones with a race no. ending with a zero, a bottle of fine Ale. As always excellent, motivating and very friendly marshals, super organisation from start to finish and a very scenic course. Here's to next time! Thank you to everyone who was involved with the race organisation. Date of review: March 16, 2015
In short: SUPER! In full: WOW WOW WOW! Dr. Rob has done it yet again: My 3rd time on this very challenging course and, again, I found the whole event such a most enjoyable one! Perfect weather & trail conditions though I did miss a bit of mud today!!! As always with Dr. Rob's events, the marshals were simply great, most encouraging, motivating, with big and friendly smiles. Super feeding/drinks stations, plenty of Jaffa cakes, jelly babies, Maltesers etc. etc. This fabulous trail run is an absolute 'must' for any trail runner, be it a fast or slow one. I know already that I will return, to do it all again, steps, 'Lethal Hill', the lot! Here's to next year! Thank-you Dr. Rob and your fantastic little helpers, for giving us all such a brilliant event.
In short: Still great! In full: True to my words last year, I returned, this time with my running pal. Again, a super atmosphere, with very friendly helpers/marshals everywhere. The cakes still as yummy as last year, the technical t-shirt - this time in a lovely blue - still of high quality. Yes, you guessed it - I shall be back, again, and so will my friend. Thank you everyone for giving us all a lovely run. Date of review: September 28, 2014
In short: A little gem of a half :-) In full: My very first Harvest Trail half, together with my rookie trail-running friend who too really loved every bit of this very well organised and friendly run. She now understands why I love running on trails and she's hooked!! Sadly, we missed the location of the cakes after finishing which was a real shame. It was lovely to have no time pressure, and to just run on the trails for the sheer enjoyment. A lovely, well-designed finisher's certificate at the finish for our efforts. Thank you, Royston Runners, for such a lovely and scenic run. Here's to next year - can't wait! Date of review: September 21, 2014
In short: WOW - How much more FUN could you possibly want? In full: My very first Bacchus and, most definitely, not my last! I have already pre-booked my B&B for next year. :-) What can I add to what has already been said so well by others, I wonder? That I had the most FUN ever in a alf-marathon? That I enjoyed all the very friendly and encouraging marshals? That I was overwhelmed by all the food/goodies at the plentiful 'drinks' stations, not forgetting the superb wine? The carnival atmosphere? The stunning scenery throughout the course? The excellent BBQ laid out for us, meat-eaters as well as vegetarians? The superb technical t-shirt and well-designed medal? You name it - this (ETL) event has got it! And, unless you do it you will never know what you have missed! Thank you, ETL, and all your helpers for making the Bacchus event one of my top 'must-do-again' events.
In short: WOW - Simply GREAT! In full: My very first attempt at the 'Badger' and well worth the 2 1/2 hour journey down south. The organisation was superb, so were the many, ever so friendly & encouraging helpers at the start, en route and at the finish. A super t-shirt, plus a bottle of fine Ale - all in all a superb event! Loved the many hills, the gorgeous scenery, especially the woodlands. No doubt that I will return, to do it all again - can't wait! Well done everyone for giving us such an enjoyable event! In short: A super event! In full: I really loved everything about this race, and I can highly recommend it, esp. if you want a PB! Beautifully organised, with very friendly & helpful staff. Motiving marshalls everywhere, a superb, high quality technical t-shirt, superb medal and an incredibly nice goody-bag. Hoping to return next year. Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Good in every way! In full: My very first time and, it was exactly what it said on the tin: Very friendly and encouraging volunteers, a challenging enough course, 'Haribo' during the run (really appreciated them - thank you!), super t-shirt, free hot drink afterwards, and a banana! And, on top of that - chip timing! Shame that nobody managed to switch off that "wind machine"!!!! Date of review: February 25, 2014
