In short: Love it!
In full: My third year of this race. The course is hilly and on farm tracks for part of the way - makes for a different and interesting challenge! Well organised, very friendly, reasonably priced, nice T- shirt and medal, free on course photo to download, finishes at the local fete for a beer or tea and cake. Only 200 or so runners but that makes it feel all the more special. Bigger races could learn a lot.

In short: Flat and fast
In full: Very well organised from bag drop/pick up; lots of water/lucozade stops; good marshalling (apart from car park exit - this could be done better).
Not much in the way of a crowd except at start/finish due to large nature of the track so if you need a crowd to get you round there may be better races. Not scenic unless you are an F1 fan in which case it's fantastic!
Great medal and t-shirt all for a reasonable price. I will do it again.

In short: Do it, but just once
In full: My first GNR. Dont know if it was just hyped up too much but I thought the scenery was awful most of the way - boring dual carriageways; crowd was OK but I have been to better (Bath Half springs to mind); long waits at the begining (expected with the number of people taking part); roads very crowded in places.
BUPA organisiation excellent however. I would recommend the official Nirvana shuttle coach to/from Hotel - worked like clockwork and got us in (OK VERY early but better that than late) and out quickly at the end.
Red Arrows were fantastic but overall I think there are other races I would rather try than doing GNR again.
Like I said above - one to do but maybe just the once.

In short: Well organised big race
In full: My second year of doing this. Like other BUPA events it was well organised. They may cost a bit more but thats the price for decent crowd control at a big event which is easy to get wrong but manages very well.
Seemed busier than last year so if you are set on a PB you may find it frustrating. Great London crowds and fantastic to run past so many landmarks.
Medal same design as last year - why not an Olympic or Queens Jubilee theme?
Dont think the misters were working - I actually got soaked going through them last year!
If you want a big race without the pain (or luck) to get into VLM then this is a great alternative.

In short: Hilly but great fun
In full: My second year doing this race. Brilliantly organised; friendly "local" race; great Marshalls; quality T-shirt and medal. Reasonably priced £12. Course is very hilly and in places a bit rutted on farm tracks but good fun. Ends at the Weston fete which is nice to look around after the race. Just proves a small race can be cheap and provide a quality experience. I will be back!

In short: Great Crowds
In full: My first half. Was busy so probably difficult for a PB if you are fast (fine if you are a slower runner like me). Best crowds of any race I have done. Glad I had my name on my shirt - the crowds really got me home! Excellent medal and T-shirt. Excellent marshals and I thought well organised. Expensive but I think you get what you pay for.

In short: Busy but friendly
In full: My first 10 miles. Well organised. Excellent crowd. Stayed in hotel so avoided bad traffic (Portsmouth can be bad at any time). Nice medal & goody bag. Easy course for a first timer. Was busy so if you are going for a PB you may find it frustrating with the crowds - but fine if you are a slower runner like me just hoping to get round.
