In short: Very fast course, a few organisational issues
In full: Did this race despite all the negative feedback about 2012 race.

The car parking is a bit crap, and a long walk from the race more like 1 mile rather than the advertised 800m

Ā£2 for baggage is a rip off, especially given the parking.

The course was super fast, good mix of abilities, and I smashed my PB my 13 mins!!!

Not much of a crowd to speak of, and getting out of the car park was tediously slow.
But if you're looking for a super fast race, then look no further and arrive early!!!

In short: MY FIRST EVER HALF - LOVED IT
In full: Did this as my first ever Half Marathon, didn't know what to expect, and had read bad reviews of the organisation but I thought it was excellent, the buses work really well and there are enough of them that you are not waiting around before or after the race. The race itself was pleasant enough, if a little hilly given I had only ran 8.5 miles before, a little sparse on support. The last hill is a bit of a killer for people finding it tough, but still managed to get in within target 2:02:28 and exceptionally pleased.

Only been running for 5 months and this has sold it to me!

In short: REAL POTENTIAL BUT LET DOWN BY ADMIN
In full: I'll start with the positives, the start was well organised and proper toilets at the athletics track almost made the event! The stewards around the course were a chirpy bunch giving good support.

The negatives however, was a dull course on roads through an industrial area, which was ok, if a little boring, however the roads were not actually closed off, which meant you could overtake someone to find yourself head on with a car!!! Once you got off the roads you were in some pleasant countryside and all of it was really flat. There seemed to be something amiss with the km markers as the 11k marker was about 1.5km after the 10k marker, and my final distance covered reflected a longer range than the advertised 13.1km. The finish was shcoking, you come over a bridge and straight into the finish line, where you get your medal, goodie bag, and then you find your bag which is dumped where anyone could have taken it... I had pre-arranged to avoid the bus transfer as it sounded like a ridiculous idea, so didn't see the issues with the buses, but I am not surprised. Why they chose to start and finish in seperate locations is beyond me and definitely not runner or spectator friendly!!!

Like the idea of a step up from 10k and half marathon, so think they should continue the idea, however they really do need to resolve these points.

In short: GREAT RACE, LOVELY LOCATION
In full: Really enjoyed this race in the great surroundings of Hatfield House.

Mixed terrain, grass/paths. Good crowd support.

Set a new PB of 52 mins, beating my old one by 4 mins.

Will definitely do it again next year!
