In short: At least it wasn't raining..............
In full: A decent enough event but little things let it down.

The Good: Marshalls extremely friendly and fellow runners were supportive

The Bad: I'm a 'recreational' runner, and there weren't many of us in this event as it is full of club runners. No problem as everyone was nice enough, but having only 1 water station after 5 miles is just not enough for people of my ability. I also managed to lose my number after 4.5 miles due to the wind blowing it off, despite it being pinned to my shirt. When I crossed the line at the end I was told by the gumpy git recording the numbers that I was liable to being disqualified. Whilst I appreciate there are rules, being told off like a naughty school child for something that was a freak accident hardly improves one's mood after a hard 10 mile slog. Finally, would rather have had a mars bar than that cheap little medal at the finish. Again, more water would have been nice

In short: Beautiful surroundings for a tricky little race
In full: The Good- beautiful scenery, friendly atmosphere and very good value

The Bad- marshalling could have been a little better. We were some of the slower runners, and at times we were uncertain of which route to take as there was no one else to follow! Some of the fields can be a bit tricky, with holes in the ground where I nearly turned my ankle several times. A medal at the end would also have been nice, although not a deal breaker as the event is otherwise good value for money

In short: A challenging little course and a good atmosphere
In full: Challenging little course, particularly kms 7-9. Nice and scenic running down the country lanes, and the marshalling is very good. Not traffic free though, although this isn't an issue, as traffic is quite light. Support is very good around the start and finish, and the medal at the end puts many bigger events to shame. Very good value for money. Enjoyed this one alot

In short: Nice scenary but poor value for money
In full: This was my first ever half marathon, and I probably should have picked an easier course as this one most certainly is 'undulating'!

The Good- Beautiful place to run, and the weather was perfect. Marshalls offered excellent encouragement. Good crowd support although only on the start and home stretches.

The Bad- £28 to enter and i've no idea where the money goes. I appreciate it is for charity but there are no road closures required on the course, the organisers did not close off roads to make access to the site easier (Took me 1 hr from Reading) meaning I didn't get lined up until 10 minutes from the start. Car park was a bit of a joke as well- a muddy field, with cars spinning their wheels left right and centre to try and get out. No goody bag either, just 2 mars bars and a bottle of water. Medal was also pretty tacky.

In short: Top day out but expensive
In full: First 10 miler for me, and enjoyed this one immensely. Excellent crowds and bands along the route as well as enthusiastic locals. Plenty of water/ powerade stations. Perfect course for novices being so flat, and the scenery is interesting, taking in the dockyards, the old town and the seafront. I must be in the minority as well as I found the traffic pretty good- 30 minutes each way to get from the M3 to Southsea common is good going, as Portsmouth can be bad enough on a normal weekend!

The bad: the price is well over the top, and the medal is pretty dreadful
