guess what guess what guess what???

I got a new job!

Woman just rang me and left a message, so had to wait til I was calm enough to ring back

Anyway, 2 days a week, in York, cheery project, working with another cheery researcher, marvellous wages, huge amounts of holidays, and pretty damn near perfect

They're delaying the start of the project til other researcher can start on 1st June, which gives me time to give 6 weeks notice, take 2 weeks holiday, and pretty much get to end of PhD before I start

Can you tell I'm pleased???

<slaps DL's bosses> How exceptionally remiss of them not to recognise your talent.

Berry, I have put the time and date of your announcement in my diary so we can remind you. Mind you, that's the approximate time I shall be finally properly officially submitting Phd (as opposed to just printing and binding, which is Monday), so I might be delayed for a couple of hours!

<yawn>

Right, must crack on...

Emma, that's a great achievement, especially if you haven't run since July! Take it easy with that cough, and that ankle, don't get yourself more injured!

Podds - well done, a marvellous summary, short and to the point

Just come out of supervision, which actually went well. I am (unbelievably) on track to finish in three weeks

Also have a slight repreive - was meant to be handing in entire draft of whole thing today - but just need to hand in chapter 1 today, 2 and 3 tomorrow, then 4-8 by Thursday, and 9 by Friday. If I can remember all that! And they said that basically there's nothing wrong with it, just minor stuff

Oh (((((((((((((spence))))))))))))))) Hope the chat with the teacher goes well, you're doing the right thing trying to sort it out. It's frustrating when you can't do something, and we all tend to take it out on those closest to us... I'm sure the teacher will understand too, won't be the first time

(((((((((((((((Podds' buttocks))))))))))))))) I bet you're sore today, I'm not surprised! Plodding and biking and plodding does not a happy bottom make. and it's Monday, and I bet you're dealing with all kinds of nonsense at w*rk today. Look after yourself

((((((((((((((((((Yums))))))))))))))))))) I'm sure you'll do whatever is right for you and your family. You must be struggling with all kinds of feelings right now, wanting to keep Tipsy, not wanting to disrupt her life any more, not wanting to disappoint other people or the minis, or yourself, but also frustration and weariness and all sorts of other things. rest on it before making the decision, you'll know what to do...

Well, having taken about 20 minutes to switch on, my computer has decided to install some updates, so is switching off again in 4 minutes. Guess I'll see you in half an hour.

Grrrr

Lol Pippi!

And hello Snaily! Glad Mr Snail feels well enough to be bored... Yep, store that one up Seriously, glad he's on the mend

Well, one person replied and we sneaked off for some potato wedges. Only they don't do food in the evenings til the students come back next week!! Obviously us postgrads don't need to eat - the place was heaving and they could have made a fortune!

In the office now with a bowl of coco pops - these things have advantages...

forgot to say earlier, got roped into being a guinea pig at the hospital! Doc said 'can I ask you a favour...?' (always ominous!), 'we need someone with a diffuse goiter to be a demonstration model for a bunch of dental students next week....' (apparently I have a diffuse goiter, although didn't really get chance to ask what it was!!)

Think I've done my fair share for medical learning already - did a year long trial for a meningitis study a couple of years ago, had my wisdom tooth (not) pulled out by a student dentist (I'm sure you all remember that one) and had my coil put in by a bloody student doctor too (now that was a COMPLETE fiasco, but I'll spare you the details...). And now this. At least nobody's trying to pull anything out or shove anything in this time... (hopefully!)

Glad MIL is doing alright noggs, sounds like a nasty accident though. Glad they can still get to you!

And XB, I'd love you to shove a nun through my window one day too
