even achieving GFA times at London doesn't guarantee you a place.In 2011 I ran 3:40 in London,applied for a GFA place and they apparently "lost" my application. I entered Brighton 2012 and got a pb there (3:32) sent proof and guess what they lost it AGAIN!!

And yes I did send them special delivery.luckily I had entered brighton again as back up but seriously not impressed.

I have done both London twice and Brighton twice and loved both.Despite living in Hertfordshire, there are aspects of brighton that make it easier to do than London, and is a lot more spectator friendly and easier to meet friends/family at the end. It does seem expensive compared to last year but could still be tempted to do it a 3rd time.

my first marathon was not london and I was able to nip in some bushes en-route.I also used the toilet ( a porta loo) at 8 miles at london marathon last year and there was no queue

I did the 17 mile one last month. I echo what the others say in that as soon as you come off the tow path its straight into a long, quite mean hill at about 3-4 miles.I think that was the worst one though and there were 2 or 3 others. I haven't done the 20 though so can't comment on whether to expect any more! there was quite a lot of down hill as well.

I think it is quite weird though as I am still within normal/healthy BMI at 32 weeks pregnant despite having put on a stone but a friend of mine who I have always thought of as v slim is apparently overweight using this calculation,
