I have been participating in road running marathons and ultra distance events for over 50 years and during that time have read many books and articles on all aspects of the sport. As a result I am confident in expressing a view that one of the best if not the very best sources of information that one can find on all aspects of road running and specifically on the physiology and biochemistry of running as well as the limits of performance, running health and staying injury free etc is a book entitled 'Lore of Running' by the very respected authority Tim Noakes, MD who is a Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Cape Town. This bookt can be found on sale in most of the major book stores
Durbanboy, Saw your comments about Comrades in the Runner'World article on Favourite worldwide races and from above comments in this forum it appears you last ran it in 1994. I completed my 10th a couple of years or so before you did but I must have run in some of those that you did. I ran for Savages in Durban and also with a group in Durban North called Regent Harriers( You may have heard of them)and also did their Durban-Port Edward 100 miler every year for about 12 years in succession. Just wondered if you belonged to one of the Durban running clubs and if so which on?
