hi, I completed the flm in april and ever since have had a pain in my knee on the outside front (about 10 o clock on a clock face, left leg). I don't think it is itb because I have had this before on the other knee. it comes on after about 2 miles and gets worse when I run downhill and is noticable when i'm moving my leg forward. Does anybody have any idea what the problem is and how I can cure it? I expected a few aches after the marathon but it is now close to 2 months ago and I would like to get running again.

thankyou.

I had the same problem as city fan,

plenty of training with two 20 milers and a 22 miler at 10 m/m on hilly lanes in build up with no problems, thats with a couple of pints and a takeaway the night before.

I lived like a saint for a week with lots of sleep, pasta and no drink and at 15 miles the legs start to ache and at mile 20 its a job to move them. finish in 4:30. I can't understand why the race was harder than a training run at the same pace.

was it just nerves and being tense, or just a shock to the system of living healthy for a week.

I'm tempted to do this as a training run for the FLM which I defered from last year, don't want to get injured again  so looking to do it slow at 10 minute miles, just a bit worried that when the gun goes off I can hold back and keep it steady. Does anybody know if the markers are at every mile so I can check my speed as I go and hopefully keep the pace down.

cheers

thanks for the reply SDoB, didn't look at the date of Lawrence' post, '2003'. had a look on your link and 37 popped up for Bristol, so seems to be a bit of a gamble. I'm going to ask at a local running shop hopefully they would have had some feed back from other runners.

Swarf.
