Thanks for all your comments and encouragement. Happy enough with my time at GNR. Great crowds and atmosphere and amazing organisation at the finish line too. Very warm and humid but I enjoyed the experience.
DS, I started in Zone B and had no problems with congestion. Struggled to slow myself down to a sensible pace. My 5k splits were 21.41, 23.17, 23.08 and 24.00. Getting gradually slower but all in all a fantastic weekend.
Some great training going on and big races planned for you all.
Thanks everyone. Did a 6mile run before work today and right shin was sore but then eased, although the pain moved to my foot after that. Just going to enjoy GNR and make sure I finish. If it all goes ok I am hoping for 1hr 40ish which annoys me as my PB is 1hr 25 and I would reaaly like to go sub 1hr 30 but realise Im not in that kind of shape at the moment.
Cheers Martin and DS. Running is a great sport when you are fit and well but not so much fun when you are struggling and running slower than you know you are capable of. I've been running for 10 years now and the last 2 years have been my worst to date.
Haven't been on here for a long time as fitness is poor and motivation was low for a while. Heading to GNR next weekend so things are loooking up again. Had to defer my entry last year due to injury so lloking forward to taking part this time.
