great report Rob, nice honest perspective. I've entered Wimbleball 2013 as a first dabble in the world of triathlon. I've done 43 (I think) marathons/ultras, used to swim loads and cycle quite a bit, so hope I can put it all together ..... loving the idea of a new challenge though .... |

A great day out again Finished in 8:16ish - in daylight, which was the goal. The cold wasnt quite as bad as I expected - the lack of wind chill helped, and i was warm and toasty most of the time. The frozen ground was good and bad - easier than wadiing through mud, but hard on the ankles. My legs are really sore and achey today, and im hobbling pathetically down the stairs !! Big big thanks to the lovely friendly marshalls and well-stocked check points - although also cant face another jelly baby or glucose tablet or gel for a long time. The salty, greasy fish and chips on the way home went down like the proverbial homesick mole |

Either would be fine I think. I did it in trail shoes (inov8 Roclite 315s) last year - only because I was a bit girly and didn't want my pristine white road shoes messed up . Although judging by the ominous forecast, snow shoes may be more appropriate ... |

I did 8:15 last year - finished at 4:45pm-ish and still light then. That last 6m from Sonning to Henley would get quite dark as no houses, street lights and the path does go rather close to the river in places .... With the rain the last few days, the path is probably going to be a bit squishy in places, but i think I'm looking forward to it, or rather after it |

UB - wow -amazed you are back again - will be good to see you again ! Am doing this again - hoping to finish in daylight is the plan. I think the diversion from benson to wallingford adds another mile - which will probably translate to an extra 10-15 mins at the end for me Am combining distance runs with xc races at the moment so a rather unconventional training regime ! |
