Luke - I thought there was only one CW but you have proved us wrong. Can't be a better day to do an over distance run.
CW - I wouldn't expect anything less than a mara from you, must have been a little bit hard going after the HM. Well done on the podium.
Steve6 - That's a good long run with a nice sub60 in there. You didn't say how you got back home, assuming you didn't have to do another 10m.
AW - Great run there and a 2min pb is massive.
HR - 3.30 hours and over 4000ft, wow, hope you had enough food with you. Spotted your result at Guildford yesterday splitting a few of my Woking clubmates. I did that one last week and it was about 300m too long on the temporary course. Didn't know you were GGAC.
Bufo - Cracking run to get in top 100.
Finchley 20 earlier. What a great morning for running. It's 4x5m undulating loops although there is quite a bit of traffic and junctions to contend with. Set off nice and easy with Dachs on 6.45's for first 5 which wasn't far off (33.40ish) then he pushed on a bit and I settled into 6.10's which I carried on right to the end. 1.32.30ish for last 15 for 2.06.17. A nice confidence run as felt pretty good after. Had to shout at a few runners running on a narrow part with their ipods as they couldn't hear a thing. They should ban them in races. Tomorrow will be a rest day and first one after 100+ day running streak..
The Surrey half marathon was today, wasn't bothered about doing it as it didn't appeal. The results show it was a quality field with a load of Kenyans turning up for the win in 63min. Must have been a few bob for the win. Saw Marders did it and from his splits looks like he was pacing the first lady as his last 11k was as fast as Phil Wicks.
Some excellent HM runs at the weekend Reading/Bath/Tunbridge Wells by loads of the usual peeps. Nice to see LS get the sub 75 and mighty happy you sounded. I'd like that before I get too old (might already be). Much harder than the sub 2:45 and more equiv to 2:40.
RJRD - You need to reel it in a bit on those long runs as you're running too close to race pace. Better to finish last third at that pace than a death march home.
Dachs - Planning on 5@6:30 then 15@6:10 for Finchley so maybe some company for first 5? JI may be doing the same.
CD - Well done at BB and a top podium. That was impressive by Lucy G and I think a female record by quite some way.
TS - I have a coffee and small banana before I went this morning. I had my breakfast when I got back inc a protein shake with blueberries blended to make a nice thick shake. Then I generally graze for most of the afternoon.
AW - I did my 10k 2 weeks back which is the first time I've done one in a build up. It won't do any harm. You could make it your recovery week so you don't need to tick off a 20 that Sunday. Worth doing 3/4m either side of 10k though.
PiMan - Nicely done on the prize, the wind was not right for pb'ing today.
Al P, CW - Hope you guys start to more like your self soon. CW I've had a few days like you describe, generally think it's life and mileage that takes time to regenerate the body for another decent session, especially for us over 40's.
TR - Good to see ya back at it son. Still plenty of time and just think you won't be overtrained like some.
Marders - Nice defence of your Brighton half. You seem to like it down there as you did the 10k too didn't you. Gotta be a 64 at Reading on the cards.
Padams - Watched that placebo programme, interesting what the mind can do.
Joolska - Have a good run at the Nationals. You've been doing a bit of race travelling lately, what with Bramley last week too....
Like CW, have been feeling quite tired of late and had a few runs during week which were plods and couldn't do much more. This morning wasn't too bad though. Didn't put in the HMP required for the session as I just wasn't that perky (the wind didn't help) and never am early in the morn. Easy 4m then 7@MP. Went out further than planned as it was almost 14 by the end with the half coming in just over 1.25.
May do a park run tomorrow and a very easy 20 Sunday. I'm liking this weather at the mo, feels like spring. Just wish all the flooding round my way would go so I don't have to get up so early for work on the only route available (M25) and it's reducing number of work run routes.
