Well done everyone, unfortunately I had to withdraw from the event due to an injury I suffered during an 18 mile long run last week, which is making my marathon seem a bit unlikely now in April! Good news is my time from last year will qualify me for London next year, so I just need to get a bit of cross training in now to keep up the fitness until I can get back running again.
Exactly hopefully we will be stronger for it! I'm a regular visitor to Madrid and have done the San Silvestre 10K for the past 3 years, and also a local 10k in Alcorcon on a trip there one summer - Great city and they love their running too
Great stuff thanks for your input Seren! Especially the downhill bit Cheers Bob I created this account a long time ago when I used to come on this forum quite regular... not been on it for a number of years now but with me doing a race not local to me that I knew little about I thought it would be the best place. My HM pb pace is 5:50 (2013) and FM pace 6:20 (2014) but I was fully fit when doing those. I am not quite there at the moment but definitely think I will have to readjust my planned target time, maybe try and aim to average out 6:40-50 and I would be delighted. Good thing is this is my first 20 so guaranteed pb either way
Ah fair enough mate! I have never ran a 20 mile as an event on it's own before, but I ran 2:06 for 20 mile split in my last marathon but I am not in that shape at present. I would have been happy with a sub 2:10 on a flat course but from what you say maybe I should be looking at more 2:15. Yep definitely agree with that, I have had enough injuries already this winter and don't need any more!
