Not random at all Ruth! I think we all have a lot to thank our parents for. Seems a common theme on here that many of us were encouraged by our sport mad parents. Found out so much about Malcs badminton prowess when we ran together a couple of weeks ago. His parents were amazing supporting three kids at a high level.
i feel sorry for those kids who don't have sporty parents. Probably very patronising of me, but I think sport gives us - and our kids - so many life skills, but above all else teaches us to respect and look after these amazing bodies we have. I know we laugh about diet on here, but we probably all take as seriously as we do the rest of our training. It's about lifestyle and I believe we enjoy life more than most!
I've never done it Sean. My running mate has a few times. It runs within 1/2 mile of my house and I ran 10 miles of a couple of weeks ago. It's meant to be a great event but really tough!
unfortunately I'm having a party the night before this year so may not be in any fit state but will probably go and watch and support. It's beautiful countryside and would recommend to anyone! Its a great place to live!
I'm going to give my Achilles a couple of days off. It feels a bit better but I need to get it much better before I do anything too long again. I have rested and iced it today and will a bit more tonight but it's far from perfect. I'm off to Oxford first thing tomorrow so little chance to be tempted. Currently, I'm still considering Essex 20/ gravesend duathlon/ nothing/ long bike ride For Sunday. I will see how tomorrow feels.looks like daughter doesn't need my help at hockey so that's a plus!
I'm not taking too much risk at this stage. Too much to lose. I'm sure a 50 miler on the bike will help maintain some fitness!
I feel tired today - finishing a 10 miler at 10pm is tough. I felt like I needed another 2 hours sleep this morning. Have iced the Achilles again and it has settled a little. I'm going to rest, as planned, today and see how it is tomorrow. I will struggle to train tomorrow as well because we're off for another university visit.
Malcs - thank goodness for that! That physio sounds good. I should probably get his details from you. I'm thinking I will put a sports massage in next week and then one the week before the marathon. My legs are beginning to feel the workload!
