CW- I have had the Fenix 3 for about 3 weeks. It has the potential to be a great watch. I simply wanted a running watch I could wear everyday, and use for biking stuff. 20% discount at local running store and sale of 305 and 310xt offset the cost.
Given your comments about the buggyness of the 310xt, I would stay away for at least 6 months. The GPS is measuring short in non-difficult conditions by about 0.1m every 10 when compared with the 310xt although it was nearly spot on for 20m today. It will get there with FW updates. It has a trac bac facility to prevent you getting lost. Given your programming ability (Pof10 data trawler springs to mind), the Connect IQ facility will allow you to create some bespoke apps particular to your needs.
I’ve never really used basecamp or other apps to put on it but I do intend to, as I have some offroad stuff coming up later in the year. That and the ultra track facility (50hrs GPS), are my reason for purchase. Bluetooth notifications when your phone is in a rucksack is pretty useful (Is it PPI or an emergency on caller id). Coupled with the smart hrm, there are more than enough stats on there to keep you entertained for ages.
Definitely something for you in the future, but the current near beta nature of it means it’s not right for now.
Selbs- Good luck with the potty training and don’t go getting injured in the next few weeks.
Great running from many on here and I can't name them all.
Marigold- fab my man and they'll be a Gold medal for the taking if you choose to go that way.
Old no 7- I was made up for you when you told me you'd negative split the race. Great to run with you for 90 mins or so. I always look comfortable but ask crab what I looked like at 23 when he got the international distress signal of it's not going well!
Hr- shame I didn't get to talk. Saw u at the start with Dids and you looked super relaxed. Great result.
SL- you've got the balance spot on. Wish I could have joined you for a few more!
Selbs- as u asked I went for the dan/ultra stu 9 min positive split. 1.22 at hw and ok, family were at 15 and at 14 started to read the signs. Held on the pace until I saw the clan but at 16 went boom. Held 7's until I saw them again at 19 where I stopped ran back and kissed the little one. They knew it was well over by then. Slowest second half since 2007 (1.31) and I didn't enjoy it. I normally love canary wharf but was hanging. Managed to struggle in with a sub 3 , 2.53. I did 45 seconds quicker than last year where I did 45m for 6 weeks and a neg split.
Back next year of course but will be happy being on a 2.59 bus. But will end up running with TR no doubt.
Talking about odds Dan- Really fancy Geoffrey Mutai this year. He was 15/2 yesterday but missed out. I then saw on the London Marathon twitter feed he's aiming for course record. Just lumped on at Betfred at 6/1.
