I really want to get under 4hrs, I got exactly 4:00:00 at the Melbourne marathon 2 weeks ago. It was my PB and I was thrilled but how close to my dream of sub 4.....I know I can do it with coaching!
I have happily plodded along for 11 marathons only to realise recently that I can push myself and go a bit faster, but I need help to break this glass ceiling and run smart!
I started running to challenge myself, 5 years ago. After achieving some distance challenges including Comrades (RSA) I now want to give the far more scary speed challenge, (of running sub 4hrs), a red hot go!
London marathon is legendary and it would be the highlight of my running life to train for and run a London marathon. I will follow the coaching religiously and promise to share the experience with everyone on-line from here in Australia! (and of course I'll cover all my own expenses!)
D: It was great to meet you at the start too and I ran with another forum person later in the race so that was really nice. We have 2 beautiful marathons in Perth, our club one which is dead flat alongside the river but has million doller scenery! The other is on an island off Perth that has several small hills and the odd bit of wildlife! They are held in July and Oct respectively. It is too hot at Xmas. But Tasmania has a beautiful marathon in January each year. NZ has some beautiful and challenging runs, if you can exend your trip a few more miles!
Well congratulations to everyone that braved the conditions, what an amazing experience. It was my favourite marathon ever, the wild conditions, magnificent scenery, but best of all the people! What a great group of competitors and organisers. I ran with some lovely people who absolutely made the run for me! Thanks so much to the organisers, I will be doing that run again and dragging people from my club in Oz with me. Hope all those with injuries heal qickly and hope to see you all again there one day. Cheers
Rick Kay thanks for the weather report. I will watch the forum to see how it's progressing this week. I've checked the web, but your reports mean more being a runner! Hope its mild. Not sure how to cope if its too cold, all I experience running here is too many flies and the odd kangaroo! I am so excited about the run. Thanks again
Thanks Biastai, RR and fellrunner. Sounds like this could be a very memorable run! It's useful to have a few clues re gear to wear and what conditions to physch ourselves up for. And gives me an excuse to get back down the shops and buy some new gear...
