Hi Amy, Yeah, I've just spent and organised so much to do the GNR this year (had deferred from last year because of injury!!) so I really want to do it. Reluctantly tried the walk/run way today and managed a comfortable 2 hours. Looks like this could be the answer for me although I'm not too happy about it. Can you defer your marathon entry? I've heard that race is really good so I assume it was hard to get into? All the best for your assessment tomorrow |

Start up the IRA (oops!!!) I'm in....I'm supposed to be doing the GNR soon and my calves are causing me grief! I'm even considering a walk/run program to make sure I get round! I'm sure a gait analysis will be helpful in spotting things which are affecting your running, rather than the massage etc which just fix the problems after they have occured. Let me know how you get on as I've never had one myself - good luck x |

Hey all, Hope you don't mind me crashing the thread, but I've got a place in the VLM next year and I'm already nervous! I have done it before (in 2006), but its almost worse this time as I know what lays ahead I've always been a bit of a slow plodder, so I'm not looking for a fast time, in fact this time I'm thinking of wearing a 'costume' (not as mad as Rob's though!!!) and taking a camera round with me to record the event?? Seren - well done on your marathon - its all in the taking part |

Well done Running tortoise and Smuffie - under the hour brilliant!!! Plod - My twin!! I'm kind of better, but its one of those twinges that you KNOW is going to hit you in the morning! How are you feeling? Debbie - I agree! And we should get extra kudos for longer runs because they take us longer than the 'speed demons' and therefore need extra commitment and time spent on our feet! |

((((HUG)))) for Plod and Debbie - although am still envious of Debbie for her 1hr and 1minute race time! Judging by my last race time, I seem to be getting slower!! I dont have a 10k until December now as I prepare for my GNR, but I'm guessing that my extra training should help. Lisa-Marie - it is very frustrating isn't it when (for a change) you know you can go faster, but there are too many people in your way! I've never tried a 'real' race (always go for the big gimmicky ones in London), but its definately worth a go - and someone has to come last! Did my 9 miles today in 1hr and 46mins - but was very knackered by mile 7 and now can feel a slight twinge in my hip. Is it meant to be THIS hard???? |
