Anything to keep the mackems down is OK in my book, but then I may have to declare a black and white interest. Sorry about the typos above - too late to edit!

I'd be surprised if he knew that much about fascism. He identified with the Lazio ultras, who esposed fascism as opposed to the lefties at rival team Roma. Lazio was the team he supported as well as playing for. A bit like Gazza pretending to play the flute when playing for Rangers. He probably knew more about it than gazza knew about sectatrianism and irish politics but that's not hard is it? They are footbal players FFS. Whoever thought trhat football players should be role models needs their head examining. Utra selfish and stupid, generally. I may be worng - i havent read into it,  but give PDC a quiz about Mussolinin etc and i bet it wouldnt be impressive. Im sure there are plenty of quiet BNPers in football

'faith is a factor' - very true

A bit different from 'all wars are the fault of organised religion' or similar comments that are so easy to make in pubs or web pages

Nothing winds me up like knee jerk anti religionists, who are as ignorant as unthinking religious zealots. There are plenty of legitimate things you can criticise, but it is utterly ridiculous to blame religion for wars, even if it does make a nice little soundbite. Wars are the fault of men. End of. It is a vast over simplification to characterise earlier wars, even if they were between catholics and protestants etc,  as only about religion, and let's just think about modern mass murderers - Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler - hmmm - religious zealots? Tony Blair and George Bush may have religious beliefs but nobody tries to pretend Iran was about religion.

By the way I was watching Eddie Izzard and according to DNA studies we are all descended from one woman. Who'd have thought it?
