BARR means British Association Of Road Races, and there are Bronze, Silver and Gold races. Basically, in order to gain/maintain these awards, standards at races have to be achieved, and we at HRC are proud to be able to maintain our Silver status.

It also gives seasoned runners a guide to what to expect at different graded events. Gold graded events such as Watford 1/2m or Burnham Beeches 1/2m are very well staged and run, as I'm sure those of you who are or who have ever been invovled in organising a race, knows what effort is required.

Hello All,

Just a quickie to mention about Harlow Running Club's annual 10 mile road race this year which is held on Sunday August 1st. The course is a BARR silver graded event and the course itself is a challenging undualting course around the traffic free cycle paths of the town itself.

It is always a hot day, and we always put on more than enough water/sponge stations with 4 water and 2 sponge stations again this year. On the last water station we might even do a marathon-esque sprinkler system with our little hosepipe!

Our race director has also provisionally confirmed that we will do away with the t-shirts this year and instead we will be givivg a glass souvenir of the race as well as a kit bag, although this has not been confirmed.

Full race and course details as well as a printable entry form on the club's website www.thehrc.org.uk , see you all there!!

Beanie B I plan to! I'm going to surprise her on her birthday in Feb by turning up to HK unplanned, and then popping the question on her day. I actually plan to leave HK with her by my side, I know she is dying to comeover and live with me!

I'm over in NY in Nov to do marathon, but also secretly doing a ring shop!
