I have seen them in bike shops, particularly those of a more MTB persuasion in the past (though can't remember which ones, sorry). I usually by a box at a time online, Pineapple and Ginger being my fav. You can by a taster pack of the flavours to try before committing. I also like their gels, energy drink and recovery stuff too. |

| I'm in South Ribble too! I can recommend Foot Traffic in Bolton for shoe fitting, its a small shop and the staff are runners (I was a bit intimidated when I went in but they were really helpful), I was having problems with my calves and achilles due to having the wrong shoes, they put me on a treadmill trying on loads of shoes and videoing my gait until I found the correct ones, my calf problems haven't returned. They also sorted my friend out who was constantly having problems with shin splints, she's now running regularly pain free. |

Sports Massage ? My left lower back (my TFL/glutes really) is prone to stiffening, particularly if I do lots of cycling and not enough stretching as are my calves.
I get regular sports massages and it really makes a difference to working out tightness, yoga also helps me loads as well.
Rest is useful, however if you don't sort out what the underlying cause of the stiffness is it'll probably just come right back when you start training - voice of experience. |

| At my last sports massage I asked a question on behalf of my OH as he was having knee problems. The therapists suggestion was to work quads/hams at a ratio of 3:1, i.e 3kg for quads, 1kg for hams. |

| Just an update, my chiro pinpointed my groin pain as orginating from my pubic bone rather than hip. He thinks its inflamed and I have to try to ice it (weird) and to continue anti-inflammatories. I can now at least walk properly but a search on pubic bone inflammation on this site does worry me a bit. |
