| ChrissiePud, in my experience it's a well-organised, well marshalled and well supported event, especially for a fairly small race. The first time I did it I had really bad chafing (too much info I know) and was in a lot of pain but got a lot of support from the marshalls in the last stretch. There's a good sense of camaraderie between the runners as well and you'd be surprised how many locals in the villages come out to cheer us on. Only downside is you pass a couple of pubs with beer gardens and I have to admit I've been tempted to stop for a pint.. |

| I've done this one five years in a row and IMO it's not as bad as the title suggests. There are basically two main hills as JB3 states, the worst is over in the first mile and then there is quite a long drag at seven miles. Other than that I would describe it as no more than undulating. It is an extremely pleasant run through some glorious countryside on a Saturday evening which is why I drive up from Swindon for it, but certainly don't do it thinking you're going to get your best ever time. Hope that is of some use! |

I would like to recommend Anthony Davis for a place in the 2009 Flora London Marathon. Anthony is an experienced marathon runner and personal trainer (visit www.startexercise.co.uk for details). He has helped many people achieve their goals, and has helped to transform my own lifestyle, all of which has proved an inspiration to others. I first approached Anthony in 2005, as I wanted him to train me for the Swindon half marathon. With his expert guidance and training I completed the race in 2 hrs 4 minutes. I now have a half marathon PB of 1hr 43 and have completed two full marathons, the last of which being FLM in 2007 in a time of 4 hours 31, and I also managed to raise over £2k for charity! I have been lucky enough to obtain a ballot place for next year's event, Anthony however has not, and really needs a place as part of his build-up to the Marathon des Sables in 2010, which he is doing to raise a substantial amount of money for charity. Anthony's marathon PB is 3 hours 1 minute, but with the elite training package I am sure he will achieve a time of under 3 hours and qualify for a good for age place in future events, as well as passing on his knowledge and experience to others. |
