I wanted to do the London Marathon because of it being so prestigious. I'm gutted that it's 5 instead of 4 rejections before automatic entry. I'm not getting any younger and i'd like to complete a marathon before my legs decide they've had enough. I might try Edingburgh or Paris. The one in Stratford sounds canny.

guaranteed entry. Is it after 4 or 5 unsuccessful attempts. I've been rejected 4 times now, including 2010 and was hoping i would be in the 2011 one. My first marathon aged 50.

I've been rejected 3 times. I'm waiting on my fourth attempt. I'm starting to find the Great North Run a tough challenge so a full marathon will proberly see me off.

Hello Clair. I'm new to writing on forums so you'll have to bear with me. I have completed the Easter Sunday North Tyneside 10k, the Pier to Pier and the Blaydon Race.

This was my 3rd. North Tyneside 10k and the first one without that ghastly head wind. The weather was very warm and the only difficult bit was the bank at Tynemouth priory. I noticed there wasn't any water stops midway, but I'm not complaining.

In the Pier to Pier South Shields beach was an absolute nightmare. Halfway along a group of us noticed that the majority were running on the track bordering the top of the beach. Everyone missed the beach before Roker  completely.

The blaydon Race was ideal, weatherwise.

By the way I'm a Geordie so easy on the toon gags.

Is there an easy way of converting min/miles to min/km?
