Finally found the energy and opportunity to report in...Sophia was finally born on 4th November - 10 days late - but when she finally decided it was time, she came quickly - just over an hour! No time to think about pain relief. All started with my waters breaking in the evening 10 minutes after my partner arrived home. My little boy was fast asleep so it couldn't have happened at a better time. I nearly flooded the house with all the fluid - tons of it as the doctor warned me.
Sophia is a big lass at just under 4 kilos (my first was just over 4) and gorgeous chubby cheeks. Fairly laid back generally which is a novelty after having quite a screamer first time round. It still feels very new and challenging juggling two children alone from 7 until 8 at night but I am not tearing my hair out yet. Sophia's brother is very sweet so far with her and besides regressing on the toilet-going front (3 pairs of wet underpants today) seems to be handling the new situation quite well.
Well done MRF.....you've beaten me to it! I love the name Ella and that would have been my first choice if it were not for some family reasons I can't go for the name. I am still pregnant. Now 6 days over. I have until Wednesday until the hopsital will start to intervene. I had a session of accupressure this morning. Back again Mon if nothing happens. The lady recommended citrus fruits so just squeezed out some grapefruits and had that.
Jac - good news for you two. fingers crossed you can put this scare completely behind you soon.
Hegs - I am having BHs in this pregnancy which I don't really recall having in the first. Certainly much more noticeable this time round. They are not painful and I kind of like the feeling (scratch head) as it reassures me something is going on.
You get weighed at every check-up here in Austria. I started to dread the weigh-ins in this pregnancy. My doc reckoned you only need to put on a max of 10 kilos, anything else is just down to porking out.... I have put on 13 kilos in each pregnancy. I gained most between 16 and 30 weeks - scary in my first pregnancy becasue I read you tend to put on most in your last trimester - feared I would top 20 kilos but the weight gain just slowed right down at the end.
Sorry about the use of kilos - too tired to convert.
Chynah - well done on your race today. It now seems ages since I raced. Once the baby's here, hoping I can back into things as easily as first time round.
I had a hospital appointment today to monitor the baby's heart. It seems it is the policy at that hospital (or Austria in general) to get seen on your due date, too - which means I am in again on Sunday - and thereafter every two days. Please please please baby make an appearance soon, I really don't want to have to go all that way 35-40 min car drive or over an hour by train for a 30 min appointment. Oliver my no1 came bang on his due date so I didn't have to go through this last time.
What happens in the UK when you go over your due date?
