I ran a marathon a couple of weeks ago and my average heart rate was 151
I had my heart rate tested yesterday. My resting heart rate is 42 and maximum heart is 161. Using these, training zones have been calculated for various sessions.
What confuses me is that according to the 'marathon race pace zone' I should be running around 138 (maximum) during the race but if I had run to that pace I wouldnt have run the time I did. The marathon was a challenge but I ran equal splits and didnt fade. I ran a pb by 18 mins. According to these recent heart rate zones I was running in an anaerobic zone for the entire marathon! Surely impossible?!
