Martin when I'm tired I could sleep anywhere. It's an early start.
Maghera 10K done last night. It was cold and windy but OK once you got going. I achieved my target of getting under the hour for the first time in a few years. My time 59:32 was 2.5 mins faster than last year. My hamstring was tight all the way round and I considered pulling out when we came round past the Leisure Centre but kept going. I had the ambulance for company for the first half but picked a few runners off in the second half.
The hamstring is still tight today so a wee easy run tonight just to try and loosen it then into the gym for a go on the foam roller and a wee soak in the Jacuzzi.
Hi guys Belfast Marathon has improved over the years. Keep plugging away and maybe one year there will be bottled water. I used to hate those relay runner but as Jim said no relay no marathon and it does introduce runners to the sport. Loads of relay runners come back and do the full marathon. If only the change overs could be managed better.
Good luck to all doing the Les Jones 10K and those racing over the weekend.
Sad to hear about the runner last night. Condolences to the runners family.
Good luck with your ultra training David. I haven't done one so I can't help. I was told at the weekend that if you can see the top of the hill you walk and refuel and conserve your energy for the down hills.
5K done tonight. I was measuring out the Purple Ladies course for tomorrow night. The quads are still tight after Sunday.
Well done Paul. I called in after kids training and watched to about 2.00pm then I had to head home. It was cold and some heavy hail showers. I was at the exit of the Leisure Centre and was surprised there wasn't a few accidents as there was so much traffic. Sunday would be a better option.
