No Blue Legs!

No I am not on Facebook Speedy.

Signing out of this forum now - just needed to let off steam as I said before.

Good luck to all doing this one though, I would never try to influence others, I just didn't agree with the unfriendly email I received.

Over and Out!

Hi Speedy

Thank you for the offer of a run, but I do not need to arrange any other runs, I was simply letting off steam about the email I received from the organisers.

Enjoy the runs you choose to do, no doubt our paths will cross at some point this year.

All the best, No Blue Legs

I am in the same boat at Speedy Brear (near the top of this thread). I also have had a very 'unfriendly' email from the organisers. I sent them an email asking what you get for the £36 that you don't get on other similar marathons for much less money. They said they will not justify their prices to me and finished with 'If you do not like our prices, please enter other events. We will not be replying to any further correspondence from you.'

Blimey, I only politely asked why it costs £36! I thought maybe you get a gold-plated medal on a pure silk ribbon - but I guess not. Unlike Speedy Brear though, I am not unsure as to whether to enter now - I will DEFINITELY NOT be doing this one. It's the Daffodil Dawdle for me on the same day, £5 or £6 with snacks all the way round and a meal at the finish, a certificate to say I've done it - and FRIENDLY organisers!!

I know the scenery will not be quite so magnificent, but I am not aware that is something we are charged for by most organisers - we get that bit for free. I may sound like an old stinge-bag, but I will not be ripped off. BTW, South Downs Marathon, 12th June, beautiful scenery, great medal, great organisation (also an events Company) - £28.

I have also entered.

Douglas, did you get my email (after Abingdon)? I sent it via your profile/details on RW.

I too am devastated. I have done the ultra twice and the marathon twice, and it was a great event. Roger and his colleagues have always put on a great event, and it shall be missed. It is hard to find marathons in February, now there is a bigger gap. Yes UltraCas, it was a good one for meeting up with friends/forumites.  I shall really miss this one.
