Jeepers, thanks very much for this. What you're saying makes perfect sense - I'm trying to drink water as often as I can and have had a good, hearty breakfast. If it starts to go up again that's when I think I might get more specialist medical advice.
I wonder if someone can give me some advice. I did an ultra yesterday, 53miles, which I finished in an ok time but really struggled the last 12miles. It was really hot and I tried to make sure I kept as hydrated as possible.
Last night, a few hours after the race, when I had been sitting doing nothing for a while I noticed my resting heart rate was about 110bpm. This morning after having a great night sleep it is about 80bpm. My normal rhr is 50-60bpm. Does anyone know if this is normal or when it should return to normal?
Am slightly panicky I am dehydrated still, or maybe it's my body trying to repair my aching muscles? Either way I do feel fine otherwise...
Mr Puffy - Thanks - I guess that might be the case but was having no pain walking or the first time I ran after the race. If it was an injury from the race would it not have showed up when walking the week after the race as it does now?
HW - Thanks good advice. Especially re the shoes. I have Brooks Adrenaline so I think they are for slight overpronators anyway? What I've now done is taken the insoles provided with the shoes out and using the insoles I've been prescribed. So do you think I may have done what you've said and transferred the pain from my feet to my knee? I guess logically I had twice the correction with both insoles - that's why it probably still hurts now even though I've ran without the insoles since.
