I'm in a quandary. My hip is absolutely killing me - I was a ballet dancer from the age of 4-16, I'm now 30, and it is clicking about 35 times a day. The doctor has referred me to the radiographer, but I have been out of training. I'm in two minds whether or not to run. I was hoping for a sub 50 on this course, but am so out of shape I probably won't beat my Loseley time (54) which will gut me and put me off. Any ideas?

I'm doing this, and the Dunsfold Park the week before, I've mapped the course on running ahead and it looks like a flat and easy one to me, though multi terrain. I also used to go to the school it is in aid of, so felt obliged.

I'm up for this as I'm a local Guildford girl, and hoping for a PB as my first 10K was the Loseley one back in November and it was incredibly hilly, though beautiful. I'm expecting this one to be ugly but get the job done, although I'm not sure how being able to see how far I've got to go will effect me mentally.

The nearest train station is probably Godalming - just, but you're looking at a £8-£10 taxi each way.

Look down the Portsmouth Harbour line - 36 mins from Guildford to Waterloo, 10 minutes to the countryside, 40 mins to the seaside. Also hundreds of idyllic vilages 10 mins drive from mainline stations.

Good schools for the kids and shopping for the wife....
