Hello! I am still alive, just Hope everyone is well, just popping by to say hi and tell you all that I do still think of you even if I never post here anymore!!
I was supposed to be running with my club tonight then attending the AGM but little Louis has chicken pox so I didn't have the heart to leave him... last night he was awake for 4 hours in the middle of the night really upset so I'm bracing myself for that again. Soooo many obstacles in the way of running, but I am vaguely training for VLM still - *gulp*!!
Hi people! Jovi, I've said it elsewhere I know but well done again on an amazing PB at Chester.
Fido - I still don't know how I got that parkrun result pushing Louis. I think it's all a bit cheating, 'pushing' a running buggy, they sort of somehow drag you round and it's really only the inclines where you have to put any work in!! Needless to say I've not done it since although toying with the idea of parkrun this Sat.
No progress on dodgy foot but got a podiatrist appointment on 5th Nov. Did a 2 mile tester run this week and it didn't hurt any MORE which I'm taking as a good result, so might just go for it and start again and see what happens, knowing I've got that appointment coming up.
Well done Howard on the VLM place and good plan to defer. That's crazy to think it'll be a 7 year gap by then. I think my marathons are still 50/50 under and over 4 hours too.
No other news here. we are not getting much sleep. That's not really news though as it's been that way for over 7 months now! (longer actually as I slept so badly when preggars too, argh!)
Oooo WTF - you are amazing!!! Can't wait to read your blog post on your incredible adventure. Sorry I sort of missed the build up to it all but I saw your facebook posts on it. Wowzers, just amazing....
Didds, aw that's lovely to think of your knight in shining armour trophy moving house with you! We moved house almost 6 months ago (where does time go?!?!?) and I've still not unpacked all my running medals / trophies etc. My GWR certificate is up in the spare room though, one of the only things I got straight on a wall, haha.
No more running since I last posted. Blasted foot playing up, have been icing, massaging, resting and if anything it's got worse, argh! It's sort of the side of my foot (inside), several people (GP, sports massage chap, pramercise instructor / PT, bloke in running shop etc) have looked at it and said it's just sore tendons but I'm not convinced.... bleurgh!
Thank you for the update Susan! Don't worry I know about Wabs from facebook, all those gorgeous pics of gorgeous granddaughter
Wow Ikle you HAVE been busy! Didn't know about being deputy head, go you! I thought I'd seen something about a wedding though - congrats, and how sweet for the invite!
WHAT is WT about to do?! I've seen all the miles again through facebook but across the country - literally?! Huh?!
Bless you and the 5 years crying Susan! I have frequent mini breakdowns (one about an hour ago) when I feel like my world is caving in but seem to have learned to re-set myself within 10 mins and feel absolutely fine now. Crazy hormones and all that I guess. Bit gutted my foot is hurting so much that I'm not running all this week - that seriously have been helping so much.
The smallest things make me happy now. Putting the washing on first thing, going for a run with Louis, coming home and him being asleep, leaving him in the garden and managing to hang the washing out then eating breakfast in the sun in the garden before he wakes up = a huge sense of achievement and then I never care what I do or how little I achieve the rest of the day! Running and washing and eating. Simple pleasures. (gave up on wishing for sleep a long time ago, I'm on top of the world if I get 2.5 hours uninterrupted...)
Hello - remember me?! Bless Susan for mentioning my birthday on here yesterday, I guess that answers my question then, how sweet Obviously I knew Susan remembered though as she sent me a nice message (still need to reply to your last text actually, sorry, had a busy evening in the end...)
So how is everyone? I know about Ikle's ultra and AH's channel swim from facebook - HUGE well done to you both - but I bet I've missed tons of other things. How many more marathons have been run over the summer? I know Jovi came 2nd overall / 1st lady in one, again from facebook - wowzers!!
Motherhood is wonderful but um... "time consuming" I guess you could say! But I've been pleased with the amount of running I've managed to squeeze in actually. I'm going out between once and 3 times a week, well I have been the last few weeks since getting my super running buggy, makes things a lot easier re: childcare at least! Did 26.30 at my first parkrun with it last weekend, yay!
I even ran double figures yesterday, which I guess it what has prompted me to come here and say hi, it sort of made me feel like a proper runner again, haha! I did the final leg of the annual Leeds Country Way relay race. Furthest I've run since Manchester Marathon 2012 (16 months ago!) and quite a challenge but I felt good and managed average pace of 8:59 for the 10 miles, off road, I even chatted most of the way round with my running partner (you run it in pairs) Lovely stuff.
Sitting here with ice pack on my foot thought, it's been painful for a few weeks but is suddenly REALLY bad, so I've had to miss my pramercise class this morning, boo. My sports massage chap says it's probably just the tendons as it's sort of the side, inside of the foot not the underneath but I am wondering now, it's super painful, yuk.
Louis is about to wake up from a nap but when he goes down again I'll try and read back a bit if at all possible. If anyone wants to give me a summary of the last few months that would be grand too Not saying I'll be able to come post here regularly again but I will come by a bit more often as I miss you all and it's fun talking (loosely!) about running again.....
