Hi All. I had the "won't turn on or show charging" problem with my 16 month old 305 yesterday when it was fully charged. Really frustrating and only realised how much I use it for pacing when I went out for a long run, using just my freebie Runners World watch. Anyway, I was looking on the FAQs of the Garmin website and thought I'd try it again (this is 8 hours later) and hey presto it came on and went straight off again, as if the battery were flat. Weird. I charged it again overnight and this morning it's working fine, located satellites etc. I noticed that all the screens were reset to zero, but the history has been kept. From reading all the above, it seems like a quirk or I'm sure Garmin would call it a "feature" - like XCR, it's out of warranty and I'll just put up with it I guess.

Hi Supercaz. Thanks for the feedback. It pretty much ties in with what Chocolate Moose says, as you can take longer strides downhill and smaller ones uphill, but still be conserving energy. At least that's what I have found so far. I also find it a lot easier keeping my head down a little when running uphill, so I can't actually see how bad the hill is! Psychological benefit only I'm sure! Dave H.

Hello. I just started running back on Oct 1st and am training now for the Bath Half Marathon, with a couple of 10Ks in between. Whilst training should I be trying to conserve energy on downhill stretches or make up time? Or both? :-)Thanks, Dave H.
