Blimey, some serious running going on for early January after the *ahem* festive season. Happy New Year all. Bit late, but only got back from Center Parcs last night... Got a couple of good runs through the woods done at Longleat. Bit muddy this year, but it helped to nicely christen the new pair of La Sportiva Crosslites I picked up on sale at Pete Bland. Must get back into training now... got my entry back for Dursley Dozen [10th Feb]. Will be my fourth year on the trot - and I know how tough it is - so no slacking in January Planning a nice steady 8 miles later. Take care all. |

Nice running everyone, well done on the 20 miler MG. Hope everyone is in the festive spirit now and looking forward to a break from work. I know I am Also hope that no one is having problems with flooding, feel really sorry for those that do... takes so long to get back to normal. Nightmare Managed a couple of decent [very muddy and exceptionally wet] cross country runs this week. Off away for the weekend to Hampshire [and the floods, although our relatives aren't affected thankfully] so looking to fit in a 10-12 miler if I can. Take care all and Happy Christmas |

AGF - nice mileage; you'll enjoy getting off road, it fast became my favourite type of run. NP - Good double session. I was *thinking* of possibly running to work and back tomorrow, be about 5 miles either way. Depends how icy it is for the bike in the morning; if it's too dodgy I may well run! OH - Top way of avoiding the crowds 4.75 mile off road trail run with work colleagues at lunchtime [our 'Xmas off-site' run]. One of the girls brought her border collie Poppy along, who continually demonstrated how easy it is to run up and down hill 17.2 mile mountain bike ride this evening. Plenty of ice to break and temp down to -4.8c at one point. My mates freehub froze and there's only one easy way to fix that, and other than walking home you're left with little alternative |

Jason - ha ha ha. You know that's going to be in the back of Fiona's mind the next time he calls to "fix" the heating Fiona - well done on the race result. I wouldn't call your time poor in windy conditions. Splits were pretty consistent considering!!! YC - go off road in the winter, more grip. Generally. And it hurts less if you fall over! All this talk of weight loss, IDK. It's Christmas Plenty of time for hard work in the New Year Sorted out the problems showing the images [turned out to be filename related]. View of Graig Fan Ddu [the initial ridge we ran along] from Pen Y Fan: View of the remainder of the Pen Y Fan ascent [I was about half way I suppose]: |

Jason - plenty of snow, albeit with a hard frosty surface. That at least gave some grip. Along the ridge and on top of Pen Y Fan it was sheet ice in places, which made it a bit dicey to say the least! NP - Nice running and yes, the views were stunning. Could see the Black Mountains and Sugar Loaf in the distance. Hope the Xmas party was worth the trip Thinking about going out for a short night run later, although I've still got to put the Xmas tree up this evening too |
