Hi, I am an experienced marathon runner and am doing Colorado the week after London ...I understand it is mainly downhill...living in a fairly flat area this is hard to emulate and train for...I ran Barcelona a couple of weeks ago and am training for an ultra so have done a lot of off road running but is there anything I can do and is anyone else running this year from UK with any advice ??
I ended up having a microdiscectomy L5/S1 for a prolapsed disc on July 20th which meant I had to take 6 weeks out , however I had pledged to run for at least half an hour a day which was roughly 3 miles a day so added up the miles done and miles needed and managed a grand total of 1,205 miles for the year so Defib bought. ( I also managed to run the Nice to Cannes marathon in November and London this year and finish my years "streak" on sept 5th!
probably not my brightest idea but on New Years Eve 2012 I undertook to run every day of 2013 to raise funds to buy a defibrillator for the village I live in. I am now 1/4 of the way through and obviously the weather has made it a tough 1/4 but even worse sciatic pain due to on overtight glute for which I am receiveing treatment is making it very difficult.Obviously I will continue and on the plus side I am never in pain running (just when I stop.....can,t bend sit or lie wthout pain) but I was just wondering if anyone out there has any tales to tell or advice they can impart?
