Just got the email with the details about this. 4 laps of 2.5km - is there a risk that this will lead to problems with faster runners getting mixed up among slower runners (note that I'm not saying which I am )?
Barns Green was my first half (last year) and while there are no actually steep uphills, there are undulations which include a gentle but *continuous* slope up from around 9 miles to around 11.5. I don't like continuous slopes and this one forced me to a walk last year, but now I know it's there and have been practising
The organisation as has been said is really quite impressive.
If a typical 12 st. man burns 3450 calories a day doing not much at at all, how come the recommended daily calorie intake is only 2500 calories?
A very good question. I think the article is Just Plain Wrong when it says "a 12-stone man burns 1850 calories a day at rest and another 1600 through normal daily activity." I am 12 stone and my maintenance calorie intake (on a semi-sedentary lifestyle) is 2300 calories a day. This really ought to be fixed...
