Hi,

I was running about 30 miles a week, cycling a bit, bouldering, etc - when I had - at the end of June- a stroke.

I have recovered to an extent (slight slur, slight right-hand shake/poor motor function) - and one of the causes was a pfo [Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a hole between the left and right atria (upper chambers) of the heart that fails to close naturally soon after a baby is born.]. Also on blood thinners (clopidogrel) and statins..

I had a procedure to close this, 2 weeks ago. The brusing from this keyhole thing seems to have mostly gone - thewound has healed fully..

All seems fine- and I am cycling to work, and going walking: but didn't really get guidelines on when to run. I should see the heart doctor in 3-ish weeks... My GP (when I asked him about when to run..) was honest and said "I don't know.."

Obviously I am not here seeking a medical view - just curious what others have been told / experienced..

thanks, d.

thanks DomF...

Doctor confirmed it as  subluxing peroneal tendon...

Have appointment at hospital with foot/ankle consultant on 22nd dec.  BUT: seems to getting much better.

Can point toes away with no click - till i really push - and then the click/movement is much less pronounced. Can run without pain - probably do half my usual weekly running this (15miles, usually manage 30/week), and no 'subluxing' while running at all - and no pain.

Nervous of letting the cutters loose on me -if I seem able to run and walk pain free (being very careful when bouldering....)

hi. I fell climbing, and smacked my right ankle into a bolt...

Ouch.

Swelled up. Treated RICE, etc

Swelling gone. Gentle jogs. BUT: if I point toes out- tendon visibly jumps over ankle. Bringing toes to leg makes it jump back...

Subluxation is what google says. Maybe chipped bone. ?

Seeing doctor- but anxious..

Experiences?
D.
